Once you try Portesi’s, no other pizza will do! The Difference: Portesi’s Thin crust pizzas have the same fresh, quality toppings as all Portesi products. The big difference is these toppings go on top of a fully bake thin crust and is then frozen raw before being packaged and labeled. Visually you can see the fresh shredded mozzarella cheese covering the entire pizza, there is no exposed edge. Thin crust pizzas are available in both 9″ and 12″ sizes.

The ‘Oven Fresh’ Original Style pizza is the same pizza made when George Portesi had his restaurant. The fresh yeast-dough crust is rolled out, topped off by hand and then partially baked in a 600 degree oven to seal in the oven fresh flavor. You can see the melted cheese and the traditional crust around the outside of this pizza. Available in 11″, 12″ and 14″ sizes.

History

Portesi’s was founded by George Portesi. George was the son of Silvio and Adrianna Portesi of Altopascio, Italy, a small town near Pisa. He grew up in Italy and came to the United States by himself at the age of 17. He settled in Chicago, Illinois, more specifically, Cicero. He was a young risk-taker in a new country with a new language, and a dream of trying to create a better life for himself.

As a young restauranteur in the big city, he had to be a risk taker with a big dream. A better life was step one, the pizzas were step two. George eventually moved up to Central Wisconsin and co-founded Two Lakes, a still-functioning supper club in Almond, WI. The pizzas there were a hit. George realized that he could move to the frozen sector, and it has been a staple of the community ever since.

Their history parallels our own—we were established in 1945 by George D. Wolff, Sr. So, we have two founding patriarchs named George building great reputations for quality and service, and passing the reins to subsequent generations who have nurtured and expanded on our founders’ dreams. Hats off to George Portesi and George D. Wolff, Sr., great men who have fed and refreshed—and employed—the people of central Wisconsin for so many decades!
